Mechatronics is a branch of engineering that blends together the mechanical, electrical, computer, and robotics aspects of engineering to connect seemingly unrelated processes of design and production into a single, streamlined complex automated system.
Mechatronics, the term conceived and coined in the late 1960s early 1970s, originally meant the integration of mechanical and electronics engineering. Mechatronics refers to the automation of machines by introducing computers and other electronic equipment to develop a system that provides new functions, such as an industrial robot.
Modern mechatronic engineers may learn and integrate elements of artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, telecommunications, systems and controls, and more.
